The New 2021 Honda Odyssey

For 2021, the Odyssey now offers an expanded list of standard driver assistance features across its trim lineup. These newly standard systems include smart tech like automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection among others. The minivan also received an exterior styling refresh, complete with an updated grille, headlight casing, and rear liftgate. If you opt for the upscale Elite model, the Odyssey’s interior will sport leather upholstery with contrast stitching.

Honda Odyssey: A Brief History

The Honda Odyssey was first introduced as a minivan in the mid-1990s, offering a four-cylinder engine paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. During the second generation, from 1999-2004, the Honda plant moved to Lincoln, Alabama. This generation saw a few changes to the Odyssey such as the addition of a 3.5-liter V6 engine and sliding passenger doors.

The third generation Odyssey lasted from 2005-2010 and added size, advanced compatibility engineering, and variable cylinder management. In 2011, when the fourth generation began, the Odyssey received a wider body and unique styling. Also during the fourth generation, the Odyssey gained a face-lift and a variety of new features such as a lower front fascia, aluminum hood, and aluminum front fenders.

In 2017, the fifth generation Odyssey was revealed at the North American International Auto Show, showcasing new features such as a 10-speed automatic for the Elite and Touring trim levels. Always providing changes over the years, the Honda Odyssey continues to have a bright future.
